I may be required to carry out an aerosol generating procedure (AGP) in my role and need to be fit tested for an FFP3 mask. How do I arrange this?
For any aerosol generating procedures (AGPs), full level 3 PPE must be worn including:
• FFP3 mask
Any staff who may be involved in AGPs must be fit tested with an FFP3 mask to ensure it provides suitable protection for them.
To arrange a fit test for an FFP3 mask, please email fit
Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is categorised as AGPs. As such, staff should wear an enhanced level of PPE when caring for patients who are undergoing any of these treatments, regardless of whether they have tested positive for Covid-19.
You can find a full list of all APGs on the Government website.
For more information about AGPs please see MBN 394 - Enhanced level 3 PPE for aerosol generating procedures.
